The Eiffel Tower is a 324m high iron lattice tower located on the Champ de Mars in Paris. It was named after the engineer Gustave Eiffel, whose company designed and built the tower in 1889 as the entrance arch to the 1889 World’s Fair. The tower is the tallest structure in Paris and the most-visited paid monument in the world; 6.98 million people ascended it in 2011.
Most visited monument in France, probably most photographed as well so it’s hard to be original. I have selected a few special moments:
March 2013 – Champ de Mars covered by snow, rare in Paris
December 2013 – Tribute to Nelson Mandela
November 2015 – After the terrorist attacks that hit Paris on Nov. 13th, many landmarks in Paris were illuminated with the colors of the French flag
