The new Foundation Louis Vuitton is a magnificent vessel designed by architect Frank Gehry. It is located in the Bois de Boulogne, next to Paris. The project started in 2006 but faced strong opposition from local environmental activists protecting the Bois de Boulogne.
We wanted to present Paris with an extraordinary space for art and culture, and demonstrate daring and emotion by entrusting Frank Gehry with the construction of an iconic building for the 21st century.
Finally doors have opened on October 27th 2014. You may visit the official website of the Foundation.
Two photo series
I shot the first photos in October 2014, a couple of days prior to the opening. More recently I have completed the post with photos from 2016 when the 12 “sails” of the building were entirely covered by glass filters. This work on light from famous artist Daniel Buren utilizes filters in 13 different colors.
